Hamilton Princess & Beach Club to Finish Renovations in June

In Bermuda, the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club has announced that it will take the wraps of its $100 million renovation this June. Over the course of the two-year process, the 400-room property has added 43 new suites designed by Botelho Wood Architects, three new restaurants, an exhale flagship spa, gym and boutique fitness studio, a private beach club, and a 60-berth marina.

For meetings and events, Hamilton Princess & Beach Club offers more than 22,000 square feet of newly restored indoor and outdoor event space. Custom-tailored programs meet the needs of busy groups and offer opportunities to positively impact the community such as Eco-Meet, an exclusive green conference planning option that lessens the environmental impact of a meeting through reduced resource consumption.

The most notable of the three new culinary venues is Marcus’, helmed by internationally-acclaimed Chef Marcus Samuelsson, the force behind the James Beard Award-winning restaurant Red Rooster Harlem in New York City. The 1609 Bar & Restaurant, a harbor-side cocktail bar and grill situated on the hotel’s new marina, and Crown & Anchor, an informal dining area, round out the resort's other new restaurants.

Hilton Launches New Tru by Hilton Brand in Secondary Markets

In midscale hotel news, Hilton Worldwide has announced a new brand that the company hopes will fill "a massive void in the midscale category" in the U.S. and Canada: Tru by Hilton

The company has 102 hotels signed up for the new brand, with 30 more going through the approval process in Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Denver, Portland and Nashville. Bloomberg notes that the brand seems to have its eye on smaller college towns near major highways and resorts, as opposed to "pricey markets" like New York and San Francisco

The first hotel from Tru is expected to open by the end of the year. Phil Cordell, global head of focused-service brands for Hilton, said that the plan is to eventually expand the brand beyond the United States.
