Unusual Meeting Venues: The Spa at Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Cancun

Recently Mauricio Aceves, director of sales and marketing, and Erika Mitzunaga, director of public relations for the Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Cancun stopped by International Meeting Review’s New York offices to update us on the latest MICE offerings from the property.

New for planners looking for an offbeat experience is a new menu at the resort’s 40,000 square foot Gem Spa. Meant to reflect the destination’s Mayan heritage, the new services run the gamut from body treatments to facials.

All treatments at the spa begin with a complimentary 10-step Hydrotherapy Ritual, which aims to detoxify the skin through contrasting warm and cool and high-pressure and low-pressure water. After that, highlights of the new menu include:

Mayan Princess Body Treatment (90 minutes) - Incorporating vanilla, which the  Mayans used as an offering to the gods, this treatment aims to soften skin with exfoliation, followed by a tangerine and vanilla mask.

Mayan Prince Body Treatment (90 minutes) - This body exfoliation is paired with a massage using mud infused with Chaya, a native healing plant from the Yucatan Peninsula

Traditional Thai Massage (80 minutes) - Thai therapists combine acupressure and stretching techniques to allow the body’s internal energy to flow more freely.

Mesotherapy Facial by Forlle’d (80 minutes) - Designed for men and women, this facial treatment aims to offer firmer and tighter skin.

Ritual Caribe Mexicano (130 minutes) - This treatment begins with a Caribbean shell massage to ease tension and muscle away. Following the massage, guests can choice from the Amber and Gold Facial for women or the Mayan Emperor Facial for men.

In terms of spaces, the spa offers two venues. The Gem Spa Relax area offers banquet seating for 60 guests and space for cocktail events of up to 150 people, while the Gem Spa Pool of Sensations offers banquet seating for 80 or cocktail style events of up to 150.

These meeting areas are separate from the spa’s other public spaces, we were told, to ensure privacy for events. Additionally, with the capacity to host up to 200 treatments per day spread across 26 treatment rooms, taking groups of eight at once, the spa’s layout was designed with privacy in mind.

Elsewhere on the property, planners can use more than 80,000 square feet of meeting space ranging across both indoor and outdoor venues, with space for groups from 10 to 1,700 people. Notable spaces include the 15,351 square foot Grand Coral Ballroom, along with 20 Breakout Rooms

Other ballrooms include the Coral Gallery Ballroom (6,000 square feet), Coral Garden Ballroom (2,669 square feet), Coral Kingdom Ballroom (3,000 square feet), Coral Island Room (1,511 square feet) and the Coral Sea Room (1,471 square feet).

The resort also has 602 all-suite ocean front accommodations, each with a private terrace facing the Caribbean and pool, as well as dining outlets ranging from the Diamond Le Basilic serving French Mediterranean cuisine to La Joya, serving Mexican cuisine and tequila. The resort is also near Cancun’s nightlife, entertainment and luxury shopping.
