We have news of new and upcoming event hotels of all sizes in this week’s roundup of supplier news from the meetings and events industry.

Wyndham Hotel Group is planning a major new $160 million project in Nevis that includes over 10,000 square feet of meeting space.

The beachfront Wyndham Grand Nevis will be situated within Northern Pointe Resort, a new 30-acre luxury real estate development being built along Long Haul Bay in St. James’ Parish

Phase one of the project and construction is expected to begin by mid-2017 and when completed in 2019, the resort will have 170 suites, condominiums and villas ranging from 900 to 5,100 square feet; a private beach club; five dining areas; infinity pools; more than 10,000 square feet of meeting space; a spa; and more.

“This is fantastic news for tourism on the island that we can attract another international brand to complement our bespoke Plantation Inns and the grand dame of Caribbean luxury resorts, the Four Seasons Nevis,” said Mark Brantley, minister of tourism for Nevis, in a written release. “We look forward to continuing to work closely with the developers to bring this much anticipated development to successful completion and welcome Wyndham to our shores."

This marks the company’s continued rapid expansion through the region, with the hotel company currently operating 13 hotels in the Caribbean.

In Europe, Robert Santucci, a hospitality veteran of brands including Marriott and Starwood, has just launched the new RockStar Hotels collection – a group of boutique hotels, currently available in seven countries worldwide. The collection already contains 40 properties and nearly 3,000 rooms across the globe.

RockStar properties are smaller hotels meant to appeal events and travelers looking for something unique. RockStar uses a team of seasoned hoteliers and world travelers to identify properties across the world that meet the company’s standards in service, décor and amenities. RockStar executives revisit the hotels in the portfolio every 90 days.

The collection also offers a variety of special perks available to RockStar guests at no additional cost. These include free upgrades, early check-in and late check-outs, and a variety of complimentary amenities. There are also plans in the works to offer other benefits to those who book through RockStar Hotels.

Current RockStar Hotels include Adriana Hvar Spa Hotel, Hotel Navis, Hotel Park and Hotel Vestibul Palace in Croatia; Aria Hotel and Golden Well Hotel in the Czech Republic; Hotel Vernet, Le Roch Hotel and Spa Paris, and St. James Paris in France; New Hotel, Cape Sounio Grecotel Exclusive Resort, Amirandes Grecotel Exclusive Resort, Belvedere Hotel Mykonos and Belvedere Villas, Kivotos Hotel The Margi in Greece; Meliá Villa Capri Hotel and Spa, Villa Cordevigo Wine Relais , Armani Hotel Milano, The Gray, ME Milan il Duca, Townhouse Galleria Milan, Aleph Hotel Rome, Gran Melia Rome, Hotel Majestic Roma, Hotel Palazzo Manfredi, and Palazzo Barbarigo in Italy; Internacional Design Hotel, Memmo Alfama Hotel, Pousada de Lisboa and Velverde Hotel in Portugal; Majestic Hotel and Spa, Mercer Hotel Barcelona, Omm, El Palace Barcelona, Barcelo Emperatriz, Gran Melia Palacio los Duques, Totem Madrid, Hotel Alfonso XIII and Hotel Mercer Sevilla in Spain.
