Supplier News: Two Big Meeting Space Renos in Europe

Major hotels renovated their meetings and event spaces this week.

Ritz-Carlton Berlin Revamps Event Spaces and More

The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin has completed its 40 million-euro renovation. The refurbishment has upgraded the hotel’s guestrooms and suites, conference, wellness, lobby and lounge areas. It has also added POTS, a new restaurant.

The divisible ballroom of the Beletage is appropriate for parties as well as corporate events. Seven additional event rooms featuring state-of-the-art technology have a total area of nearly 20,000 square feet. Re-envisaged by interior expert Carbone Design, the hotel’s newly modernized wellness space offers two saunas, a cosmetic treatment menu and fitness equipment. The new designs were inspired by 1920s Berlin. Guests will encounter references to the golden era of German cinema.

The lobby is styled like an early 20th century literary salon. In it, there is a notable ironwork staircase along with a crystal chandelier.

The hotel’s guestrooms and suites were created by G.A. Design’s London team. The rooms have contrasting colors of full-light headboards, while geometric patterns symbolize the historical significance of Potsdamer Platz. Wash and make-up tables are reminiscent of wardrobes of early silver screen icons while the honor bar nods to their classic wardrobe boxes. Technology in the rooms include touchscreens controlling all in-room electronics and charging stations in the seats themselves.

The Lounge with marble floors offers afternoon tea accompanied by a live pianist and served by specially-trained tea sommeliers. The POTS restaurant serves German classics with a modern twist.

The Curtain Club bar is designed to fuse Art Deco elegance and Latin American playfulness. Designed in the style of a South American hacienda, a living room is the focal point of the bar with a stage for live music.

Multiple award-winning mixologist and Chef Arnd Heissen and his team create unconventional drinks relying on Latin American flavors. At the Fragrances Bar, there is an interactive experience where guests choose their favorite cocktails from a walk-through bar menu, the Hall of Fame. Each drink is inspired by a top-quality gourmet perfume.

The bar’s design is derived from perfume flacons with ingredients and spirits arranged in pharmacy bottles. The space is peppered with dark mirrors, and six avant-garde Golden Age-inspired drawings by local artist Tina Berning line the walls.
