Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe Launches New Events Space

The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe has launched a new meetings and events space. 

The Lake Club, The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe is a waterfront venue with direct access to the lake. Opened in June 2017, the multi-level lake club is now available for meetings and events. 

The lakefront property has both indoor and outdoor event spaces, including a gathering area and bar, a ground floor-dining terrace, an upper-level dining deck, a private boat dock and an expansive lawn extending to the water’s edge. Lake Club was designed by locally based Walton Architecture + Engineering, incorporating natural materials such as ledgestone and cedar wood and contemporary lines of steel and glass structure. Floor-to-ceiling windows on all sides provide breathtaking views.

During the winter season, which runs from October to mid-April, the Lake Club is available for meetings and dinners of up to 36 people and for receptions of up to 60 people, which can take place in the interior spaces. During the summer season, which runs from June to October, the Lake Club is available in the evenings for smaller events and private dinners, hosting a maximum of 90 guests, which can take place on the waterfront lawn or within the indoor spaces depending on guest count. Additionally, the entire Lake Club is available for full day rentals. 

Additional venues at the resort include 10 distinct and customizable meetings spaces with 15,000 square feet of indoor space, 15,000 square feet of outdoor event space, a 6,000 square foot ballroom overlooking the Martis Valley, and more.

ALHI Opens Germany Sales Office

MICE industry sales organization Associated Luxury Hotels International (ALHI) has opened its first global sales office in Germany

becky dimantLocated in the Frankfurt area, ALHI’s new sales operation assists meeting professionals, incentive specialists, association executives and business executives in Germany, Switzerland and Austria who are interested in conducting meetings, conventions and/or incentive programs at any of ALHI’s member hotels or resorts. ALHI’s portfolio has more than 250 luxury and upper-upscale hotels and resorts around the world, which are either independent or are with an independent hotel brand, and which specialize in serving meetings and incentive programs. This is ALHI’s second global sales office in Europe, following the opening of ALHI’s global sales office in London in March 2017. 

ALHI’s luxury portfolio includes more than 150 hotels and resorts in North America; 35 in Western Europe; 13 in Eastern Europe; 17 in the Bahamas, Bermuda and Caribbean region; 13 in the Middle East; 31 in Asia; nine in Africa; and four in South America.

In announcing the opening of the new office in Germany, ALHI’s Chief Sales Officer Mark Sergot also announced that hospitality industry sales professional Becky Dimant has joined ALHI as Executive Director of Global Sales for Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Based in ALHI’s new sales office in the Frankfurt area, she assists meeting and incentive professionals in the three countries with coordinating programs at any of ALHI’s member hotels or resorts, and with ALHI’s “Alliance” partners, which includes 23 luxury cruise ships appropriate for meeting and incentive programs, and Destination Management Companies (DMCs) in 100-plus locations worldwide.

Prior to joining ALHI, Dimant served for 17 years as Director of Global Sales for Germany, Switzerland and Austria for Fairmont Raffles Hotels International (FRHI Hotels & Resorts), which is now part of AccorHotels. In that position she was responsible for account management for the meetings and incentive marketplace in Germany, Switzerland and Austria for FRHI’s global portfolio of 120 luxury hotels across the Fairmont, Raffles & Swissotel brands. Her experience also includes serving as Director of Sales, Germany for Canadian Pacific Hotels & Resorts for nine years. Iowa’s Merrill Hotel & Conference Center Joins IACC

The International Association of Conference Centers (IACC) has accepted The Merrill Hotel & Conference Center in Iowa into its program. After demonstrating its ability to meet the quality standards set forth by IACC, The Merrill Hotel & Conference Center was accepted into full IACC membership. The Merrill will be the only IACC sanctioned conference center in the state of Iowa, venue officials said. 

In a written release Lori Denney, director of sales and marketing at The Merrill, said the move would attract additional meetings business to the Muscatine area. 

To achieve IACC certification, venue members must demonstrate a commitment to the highest standards in design, facilities, services, technology, and sustainability. IACC members understand the importance of each of these elements in a successful meeting – and those who use IACC venues expect excellence. 

IACC serves its members by being the global thought-leader in the meetings industry. Currently, there are 385 members in 22 countries within the Americas, Europe and Australia.
