Renovations and deals lead this week's supplier news in the meetings and events industry.

Luxury Venues: Ireland's Carton House Revamps Meeting Rooms

Carton House, a historic luxury resort on 1,100 acres of private parkland in County Kildare, Ireland, has rolled out a newly renovated banqueting suite and meeting space.

In a written statement General Manager Eoin O’Sullivan said that the renovation upgraded the property’s modern amenities while retaining its 18th century heritage. New design touches and upgrades are inspired by the property’s history, which dates to 1176 when the land belonged to the FitzGerald family, one of the most influential families in Irish history. Carton House was also once the residence of the Duke of Leinster and is the sister house to Leinster House, the current Parliament of Ireland. It is also said to have been a favorite retreat of England’s Queen Victoria

The refreshed space includes the Carton Suite, located on the ground floor of the resort's conference centre and the Kildare Suite on the first floor. Both with their own dedicated entrances, each room is available as a single suite measuring over 5,400 square feet and 3,100 square feet, respectively, or divisible into three suites. The Leinster boardroom, also located on the first floor and measuring 365 square feet, has been fully refreshed with bright yellow leather armchairs.

Improvements include a brighter color palette with highlights of blues, greens, greys and taupe, as well as new carpeting with floral graphics over mottled backgrounds.

The pre-function area on the ground floor also received new finishes and features, including neutral wall paint, burnished black vinyl coverings on ceiling recesses, rich jewel tones, floral-patterned carpeting and imagery that bleeds into striated blues, greys, and taupe.

Finally, the renovation added new artwork to provide a unique sense of place, with colorful landscapes, florals, still lifes, and other imagery created by contemporary Irish artists, including Jean Bardon, Ruth O'Donnell, Stephen Vaughan, and Nick Hayden.

The resort is a 25-minute drive from Dublin
