New and newly renovated event venues lead this week's supplier news in the meetings and events industry.

JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort Debuts Major New Event Space

The JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort has debuted a brand-new meeting and events space, as part of a three-phase, $320 million renovation project that the resort kicked off in 2015. Now in the third and final phase, the resort is working towards the completion of their all-new adult-exclusive Lanai Tower with 93 adult exclusive guest rooms and suites and over 100,000 square feet of new pre-function and exhibit space ­ – all in addition to its beach and other outdoor spaces for open-air events with waterfront views. 

The largest of Florida’s Ten Thousand Islands, Marco Island is located on the Gulf of Mexico in Southwest Florida. Travelers fly into the newly renovated Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, and in about 50 minutes, arrive at the island. 

Opened March 28, the Lanai Tower meeting space exceeds 100,000 square feet. The Tower’s meeting and pre-function space is found on the first three floors of the tower and has two ballrooms, five outdoor terraces and numerous breakout rooms. As the signature space in the tower, the 30,000-square-foot Calusa Grand Ballroom will be found on the third floor overlooking the Gulf of Mexico with 24-foot ceilings. Full-length windows provide the pre-function space with natural light. The tower will also have the 17,000 square-foot Banyan Ballroom on the first floor with 22-foot ceilings and a Sunset Terrace providing a view of the beach and gulf beyond. Apart from the tower, the existing 10,000 square foot Palms Ballroom, located adjacent to the new SPA by JW, has 17-foot ceilings and waterfront views, and it faces 

The tower will also be home to a new restaurant, 10K Alley, a combination gastro-pub and gaming emporium. This venue will play host to elevated cuisine, over 60 Florida-brewed craft beers and barrel-aged bourbons, milkshakes and games like bowling, mini-golf, and dozens of gaming and virtual reality experiences. 

The JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort has also updated the culinary experience for their group and meeting guests. Each culinary component of the event is focused on fine dining and restaurant quality experiences, as opposed to the traditional banquet-style service, the resort said. The resort’s newly appointed Executive Chef, Eric Vasta, works with groups to customize a menu.

Hawaii Venues: New Beach Club Overlooking Diamond Head

The brand-new Voyager Club 47 Club Lounge at Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort, situated above Waikiki Beach, is set to welcome its first guests July 1, and it can be booked for private events. 

Exclusive to resort guests staying in Voyager 47 Club level rooms and all suites, the premier club lounge provides a serene, oceanfront retreat to enjoy complimentary, locally sourced bites, as well as premium coffee, craft beer and specialty cocktails. 

The venue can also be booked for private events, offering a setup with sweeping views of Diamond Head, surf breaks and sunsets.  

Located on the resort’s second floor, guests can start their day at the Voyager 47 Club Lounge with premium Kona coffee and breakfast bites, including fresh local fruits and eggs, pastries and  homemade jam.

To help plan the day, a club concierge will be available for Voyager 47 Club Lounge guests to personally assist with anything from recommendations to reservations for activities, to eateries and cultural programs.

Guests can return for the sunset to indulge in Outrigger’s locally inspired tasting menu with pupu platters and specialty draft beer bar – featuring seasonal brews plus local wines. In addition, Voyager 47 Club Lounge guests receive a complimentary two-day Tesla test drive as part of their stay, based on availability.

Private Onsite Catering 

Beyond the offerings for on-property guests, the premier club lounge is a nice location in Waikiki for privately catered events. From wedding receptions to group lunches and special occasions, the Voyager 47 Club Lounge has midday and late-night availability suitable for various needs. With indoor and outdoor seating options, event guests and club members can take in views of Waikiki Beach.

Club Upgrade Offer

To celebrate the new Voyager 47 Club Lounge opening, Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort is extending a limited-time, one-level upgrade. Guests who book a Voyager 47 Club City View room get a complimentary upgrade to a Voyager 47 Club Partial Ocean View room, now through April 15 for travel July 1 through December 31.
The Voyager 47 Club Lounge at Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort will be available exclusively to guests staying in Club Level Rooms on the 14th-16th floors, with 104 rebranded rooms in total. Hours of operation for the Voyager 47 Club Lounge are from 6 to 9:30 a.m. and from 5  to 7 p.m.

ALHI Adds 8 Hotels in England, Ireland and Washington, DC

Associated Luxury Hotels International (ALHI) has expanded its worldwide portfolio and options in Europe with the addition of The Doyle Collection’s four luxury hotels in England and three luxury hotels in Ireland. Also joining ALHI’s membership portfolio is The Doyle Collection’s eighth hotel, which is located in Washington, D.C.  ALHI now represents The Kensington (London, England), The Marylebone (London, England), The Bloomsbury (London, England), The Bristol (Bristol, England), The Westbury (Dublin, Ireland), The Croke Park (Dublin, Ireland), The River Lee (Cork, Ireland) and The Dupont Circle (Washington, D.C.) to the meetings and incentive marketplace in North America and Europe, according to ALHI’s Chief Sales Officer Mark Sergot.  

The Kensington is set in the affluent 19th century district of South Kensington in London. The Victorian-style hotel has 150 guest rooms and three meeting rooms, which includes the 1,420-square-foot Town House. In addition, the hotel has a gym, spa treatment room, business center, complimentary Wi-Fi, a restaurant and bar. Close to Dublin city center, The Croke Park is near the historic Croke Park Stadium, the spiritual home of Ireland’s native Gaelic games and one of the city’s leading venues for international conferences and headline concerts. Offering 232 contemporary guest rooms and suites with marble bathrooms, the hotel also has 12 meeting spaces, a fitness center, an outdoor terrace, and The Sideline Bistro & Bar. The hotel also provides complimentary shuttle service to the East Point Business Park and The Irish Financial Services Center, and is a 10-minute drive to the 3Arena, National Botanical Gardens, Dublin Zoo and Guinness Storehouse.

The hotel has 327 guest rooms and over 10,000 square feet of meeting space. Ronald Reagan National Airport is a 15-minute drive.       

With the additions, ALHI’s portfolio now has six hotels in England, five hotels in Ireland, eight hotels in Washington, D.C., and four additional hotels in the Washington, D.C. area.
