Loews’ First St. Louis Hotel to Open With 17K Sq. Ft. of Event Space

Loews Hotels has announced plans to build its first-ever property in St. Louis, which will bring an additional 17,000 square feet of meeting and event space to the city.

The Live! by Loews – St. Louis, MO, will be part of Ballpark Village’s $260 million expansion project. The hotel’s event spaces will have views of nearby Busch Stadium, downtown St. Louis and the Gateway Arch. Situated on the hotel’s second level, spaces will include:

  • A Grand Ballroom that flows out to an outdoor amenity deck
  • An Executive Board Room
  • Several break out meeting rooms
  • An outdoor event terrace

Ballpark Village, developed by the St. Louis Cardinals and The Cordish Companies, is a mixed-use dining and entertainment district adjacent to Busch Stadium. The $65 million hotel is being developed as a partnership between Loews, The Cordish Companies and the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Live! by Loews hotel concept was developed jointly by Loews and The Cordish Companies. The Cordish Companies' Live! brand has welcomed over 50 million visitors annually to its entertainment districts.

The hotel will be directly across from Busch Stadium at the intersection of Clark and 8th Streets, and it will aim to be a celebration of the history of St. Louis, a destination for sports fans, families, and visitors, and a premier location for meetings and special events. The eight-story hotel tower is part of a plan to complete a full build-out of Clark Street.

Designed by HKS Architects Hospitality Studio, the exterior architecture and interior design will be influenced by local St. Louis character, including inspiration used for Busch Stadium. The hotel will also have:

  • 216 luxury guestrooms, including 19 suites
  • Great Room Lounge and Outdoor Terrace: A central gathering place that offers both indoor and outdoor guest experiences. Located on the first level, the Great Room lounge area and outdoor terrace will provide guests the opportunity to enjoy food and beverage offerings, private dining options, and a digital AV experience that showcases sports, entertainment and art.
  • Fitness facility, lobby and porte-cochere entrance with 24-hour valet services

Live! by Loews - St. Louis, MO will become the second hotel to carry the Live! by Loews name. The first announced location, Live! by Loews - Arlington, TX, will open in the Arlington Entertainment District between the Texas Rangers' Globe Life Park and the Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium. Live! by Loews - Arlington, TX will anchor the $250 million world-class Texas Live! dining, entertainment and hospitality destination being developed in partnership between The Cordish Companies, the Texas Rangers and the City of Arlington.

Over the past three years, Loews Hotels & Co has expanded its Midwest presence, with the additions of Loews Chicago, Loews Chicago O'Hare and Loews Minneapolis. Earlier this year Loews announced the 800-room, Loews Kansas City Convention Center Hotel, which will open in early 2020.

The 550,000 square foot second phase of Ballpark Village being developed in partnership between the St. Louis Cardinals and The Cordish Companies will include a 29-story luxury high-rise apartment tower, the first Class-A office building built in downtown St. Louis in nearly 30 years, the Live! by Loews convention hotel, as well as additional retail and entertainment. Plans call for construction to get underway by the end of this year.

Austin’s AT&T Hotel and Conference Center to Debut Major Expansion

The AT&T Hotel and Conference Center in Austin will debut 30,000 square feet of new meeting and event space with its expansion opening January 2018. The expansion will include the 15,000-square-foot Zlotnik Family Ballroom, a multi-use space for business meetings, conferences, weddings, graduations and social gatherings. With the addition, the AT&T Hotel & Conference Center will offer a total of 80,000 square feet of flexible space and 53 meeting rooms to accommodate groups of six to 1,600 people.

In addition to the Zlotnik Family Ballroom, the expansion will include nine additional meeting rooms, directly connected to the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center by an enclosed walkway. The new space seamlessly transitions from the current space into the new ballroom’s 5,000-square-foot pre-event space with natural light cascading through the built-in skylights. The expansion is part of Rowling Hall, which will also house The University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business graduate programs.

The pre-function space of the Zlotnik Family Ballroom will have a large mural from José Parlá, a Brooklyn-based artist known for his paintings, sculpture, photography and architectural collaborations. The mural will be his most ambitious project to date, occupying 4,000 square feet. The artwork will highlight Austin’s natural environment and cityscape and will feature Parlá’s characteristic traces of collage, pulled impasto surfaces and signature calligraphic marks.

The new meeting and event spaces, designed by New York-based architecture firm Ennead Architects, are designed to accommodate various types of events and room arrangements and will feature an abundance of natural light. With a wide array of room sizes and layout options, the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center can host everything from intimate boardroom meetings to wedding receptions and large scale corporate events.

The AT&T Hotel and Conference Center is owned by The University of Texas and is located at the south entrance of campus, between the UT Tower and Texas State Capitol. Located in downtown Austin, the 297-key property offers three on-site dining options, including The Carillon, an award-winning restaurant, and is central to the city’s top museums, restaurants, retail, events, festivals and nightlife.

The AT&T Hotel and Conference Center offers 80,000 square feet of meeting space and access to 500 guest rooms through a collaborative partnership with surrounding hotels, known as the Innovation District. The venue is also close to The University of Texas, Dell Medical School and area museums.
