Accor's New Los Cabos Hotel to Have 7,500 Sq Ft of Event Space

Another major luxury hotel company is bringing new meeting space to Los Cabos: Accor has announced plans to open a new property under its SO/ Hotels & Resorts brand at the end of 2021.

The SO/ Los Cabos Hotel & Residences will mark the first property for the brand in Mexico and the second in the region. Set on the outskirts of San Jose del Cabo on seven and a half acres of beachfront, lively social events and entertainment will be a main focus of the property.

For meetings and events, the new hotel will have 7,500 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor function space, including outdoor event spaces with floor-to-ceiling glass windows. It will also have 200 guestrooms and 36 luxury residences with beach and ocean views, plus a rooftop experience with two modern Mexican restaurants and a lounge with ocean views surrounded by five swimming pools. Guests will also be able to enjoy an SO/ SPA, offering bespoke treatments inspired by Mexican beauty rituals; access to an 18-hole, Nicklaus Design golf course adjacent to the property; and a fitness center with a glass-bottom pool.

The move marks the latest big luxury hotel name to enter Los Cabos. This past May saw the debut of both the Montage Los Cabos, set on the destination’s Golden Corridor, as well as the Viceroy Los Cabos. Looking ahead to this spring, the destination will receive a new Nobu-branded property, and, in May, a new Hard Rock will open its doors.

SO/ Hotels & Resorts is a lifestyle hotel brand with locations in Thailand, Mauritius, Singapore, Berlin, Vienna and St. Petersburg. Other openings are planned in Cuba, Kuala Lumpur, Samui and Jakarta.

Venetian Las Vegas Launches Virtual Meeting Planner Tool

The Venetian Resort Las Vegas is set to launch a new virtual planning tool for meeting and event planners. Called the Venetian Meetings Virtual Planner, the tool will allow MICE professionals to customize and research venues prior to contacting a representative at the resort.

Billed as a one-stop-shop for meeting and event RFPs, the new tool will allow planners to take a virtual look at the resort’s event spaces, as well as provide dimensions and capacities for each venue. Users will be able to take a virtual tour of the property’s event spaces via fly-through videos and photos and, once they have determined their event space, design a configuration that suits their needs. Event planners can then attach the customized layout in both a 2D and 3D form to their RFP.

The Venetian has more than 2.25 million square feet of meeting space, including ballrooms, meeting rooms, boardrooms, The Venetian Resort Congress Center, hospitality parlors, the pool deck and the Prestige Lounge, all of which will be available in the new virtual planning tool.

Planners can also take advantage of a number of unique activation options at the resort, such as sushi-rolling classes, mixology sessions and more.

A test drive of the Venetian Virtual Meetings Planner is available here.
