Hyatt Times Square’s New Meetings Terrace, AmEx GBT’s New Acquisition

A new event venue in New York and a new acquisition in corporate travel lead today’s news in the meetings and events industry.

Planners looking to book in New York take note: Hyatt Times Square New York has announced the debut of its newly designed Salon Terrace, which is open year-round and overlooks West 45th Street. 

The new, two-floor venue has 4,000 square feet of space spread over three types of Salons, a Salon Boardroom and a Salon Foyer. The overall space can host receptions of up to 270 guests, or 100 attendees when just booking the second floor. Catering is by Hyatt Times Square’s Chef Nick Pelliccione, and can take advantage of a newly added BBQ area in the corner of the space. 

Hyatt Times Square has 487 guest rooms, 49 of which are suites, with floor-to-ceiling windows. Also on property: Bar 54, the highest hotel rooftop lounge in New York City (also available for events), and a Timeless - Marilyn Monroe Spa.

American Express Global Business Travel Acquires KDS

In corporate travel news, American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) has acquired France-based travel technology provider KDS, Travel Agent reports. GBT said the deal would aid the development of GBT’s suite of business travel services, particularly with KDS’ Neo product, which offers multi-leg, group and offline booking, as well as reporting, in a single interface. The transaction is expected to close in 2016. 

GBTA Talks Objectives for GBTA India

In association news, Gaurav Sundaram, the new regional director of GBTA India, sat down for an interview on the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) blog to talk about the objectives for the organization’s new India chapter, which launched in April. You can watch the video above. 

The goals: get to 300 members, deliver a Symposium with opportunities for networking and education, and advocate for issues important to business travel in the region. The GBTA India Business Travel Symposium will take place September 6 in New Delhi
