New Luxury Hotel Meeting Venues

W Amsterdam Deck

A number of properties across the globe are announcing big developments this month, with a few offering high-tech and unique meeting spaces.

W Hotel Amsterdam Now Open, Offering Dynamic Meeting Spaces

W Hotels is continuing its global expansion strategy with the debut of W Amsterdam, which opened in October.

Owned by Europe Hotels | Private Collection, W Amsterdam aims to stand out with cool amenities and cutting edge design, including the city’s first rooftop pool and the brand’s signature Whatever/Whenever service. Located in two historic buildings next to Dam Square, the former Telephone Exchange (‘Exchange’) and the old premises of KAS Bank (‘Bank’), the 238 room property includes 21 suites, three WOW suites and two Extreme WOW suites.

As Amsterdam is well known for its music, fashion and arts scene, W is trying to get in on the action by introducing the XBANK gallery and creative incubator space, “a breeding ground for up-and-coming Dutch fashion and design artists.”

Additional meeting spaces include three dynamic venues with a total of 413 square meters of ultramodern function areas. The largest space is the Great Room, which can be converted into three smaller rooms, ideal for local talent to showcase their fashion, art and design, as well as providing a place for conferences, banquets and other events with conference suites and audio visual equipment available.

W Hotels is also opening several new properties in Mexico (Punta de Mita and Riviera Maya), Milan (Italy’s first W Hotel), China and Goa

The Peninsula Hotels Looks Toward Istanbul

In July, a joint venture was announced between Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, owner of the Peninsula Hotels, and two Turkish companies, Dogus Holding and BLG Capital, which would allow for the development of a new property in Istanbul.

Details of the collaboration are now surfacing, and the $330 million project will be developed in the Salipazari Port situated in the Karaköy area overlooking the Bosphorus strait.

The Peninsula Hotels will be entering into a highly competitive luxury hotel market, as Istanbul is home to several international hospitality brands including Raffles, Four Seasons, St. Regis, Park Hyatt, Jumeirah, and Shangri-La.

Further information about accommodations and event space was not available at press time.
