U.S. National Conference Center Hosts Inaugural Customer Advisory Board




In Virginia, just outside of DC, the National Conference Center recently held its first gathering of a newly created customer advisory board. At the two-day onsite meeting, the advisory board strategized and made recommendations on how to better serve the conference and offsite training community.

"The customer advisory board was formed to provide industry guidance, feedback and insight to the changes being made at The National Conference Center," Geoff Lawson, vice president and general manager at The National Conference Center, said in a statement. 

The board consists of industry and business executives from around the country, along with The National Conference Center executive management team.  Advisory members include:

·Michael Sunderman, executive director learning & development, Verizon

·Eric Terry, president, Virginia Hospitality & Travel Association

·Tony Howard, president, Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce

·Jamal Aaron Hageb, senior meetings manager, American Bar Association

·Chip Smith, vice president of government markets, Experient / Maritz Travel

·Steve Davis, founder and COO, DavisTrapp

·Fran Harris, global account executive, ConferenceDirect

·Ann Hayes, national sales, Visit Loudoun

·Tien Wong, CEO, Tech 2000, Inc.

·Russ McFarlane, conference and events manager at McKinsey & Company 

·Jen O’Keefe, meeting and event consultant, Oasis Meetings & Events

·Ayuko Kimura-Fay, CMP, director of meetings, The Endocrine Society

In the two-day inaugural meeting, the board discussed the history of the facility and the enhancement renovation plans. Onsite tours were held along with a chef’s table dinner, think tank dialogue and new concepts for all the areas initially planned for renovation.  The management team also shared its timeline for renovations of the entrance, lobby, main restaurant, bar and grill, conference areas, refreshment break areas, and guest rooms.  The next meeting will be held in early spring of 2015.

Located in Northern Virginia 12 miles from Dulles International Airport and 35 miles from Washington, D.C., the National Conference Center has 917 guest rooms and more than 250,000 square feet of meeting and group function space, including the West Belmont Place catering complex with a 16,500-square-foot ballroom. The National Conference Center is also on the GSA schedule.
