Luxury News Roundup: The Knickerbocker Opens New Lounge and More

Here's a roundup of hotel news for the week that will add on amenities for meeting attendees.

New York's The Knickerbocker hotel revealed plans for a new rooftop cigar lounge. The lounge is opening as part of a partnership with tobacconist Nat Sherman, and will offer a selection of Nat Sherman cigars and cocktails. The partnership will also allow the hotel to sell Nat Sherman cigars at the fourth floor restaurant and bar, Charlie Palmer at the Knick.

The hotel has over 2,200 square feet of meeting space, including a function room that hosts up to 250 and a pre-event Foyer adjacent to the hotel bar. The hotel also offers rooftop space, the restaurant and bar and the James @ the Knick, a receptions facility for up to 40.

Madison, Wisconsin's Edgwater hotel recently joined Historic Hotels of America, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. To be selected for the program, a property must be at least 50 years old, designated by the U.S. Secretary of the Interior as a National Historic Landmark, listed in or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places or recognized locally as having historic significance.

The hotel will be undergoing a redevelopment after being acquired by local developer Robert Dunn, and will retain its preserved facade. The 200-room Edgwater also has over 45,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space and a one-acre public plaza.

Continuing West, the Delano Las Vegas opened the Franklin lobby lounge, which offers cocktails, food and music. This could be the final destination for travelers attending functions in one of the hotel's 31 meeting rooms or its 1,200-square-foot Delano Living Room. The hotel is also located near the Mandalay Bay meeting and convention center.

In London, Kempinski Hotels parted ways with The Stafford Hotel, mutually agreeing to end their management agreement. Reservations will continue to be accepted through Kempinski's sales channels through Sept. 10, and existing reservations will be honored.

The hotel has five private meeting rooms, each accommodating groups from 4 to 44.
