What to When Natural Disasters Affect Your Events

When New York was brought to a standstill by Hurricane Sandy in late 2012, PCMA shared several tips for making sure event attendees are kept safe and informed before, during and after an unplanned hurdle.

Keep in Touch: Have a plan in place to keep attendees aware of any changes.
Know Your Programming Priorities: Determine early what can be cut from the program if it has to end suddenly.
Expand or Extend Your Program: Know if you can have the facility for another day, and if attendees can keep their room blocks.
Cancel: If health and safety are at risk, be prudent and cancel the event.
