UK: Queen Elizabeth II Centre Sees Best Results in Five Years

The QEII Centre has announced a year-on-year room hire revenue increase of 17.3 per cent in its best trading results since 2010.

In June 2014, the centre delivered its highest ever occupancy level and revenue-generating month since it opened 29 years ago. It is estimated that the centre delivered an economic impact to the London and UK economy of £122 million in 2014/15.

In a ministerial statement, Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon commended the centre on its ‘substantial achievement’.

He said: “I am delighted to announce that the centre has delivered significant improvements and enjoyed considerable success over the course of the last two years. The centre is an increasingly successful profit-making agency, paying an annual dividend, which is forecast to increase again in 2015/16 and in each of the years covered by its corporate plan.

Year-end occupancy at the recently rebranded and refurbished venue is currently 16 per cent ahead of last year, while the total number of events is forecast to show a 20 per cent increase.
