UK: London venues expenditure tops £40 million in 2014

Members of the Unique Venues of London consortium have spent in excess of £43 million on improvements during the first six months of 2014.

Redevelopments and modernisations include the re-gilding of the Grand Temple in Freemason’s Hall, a refresh of the Foundling Museum’s Introductory Gallery, and enhanced connectivity at LSO St Luke’s which now boasts connection speeds of 270Mbps.

Meanwhile to mark the centenary of the First World War, IWM London will unveil a Foster + Partners-designed transformation on 19 July. New event spaces include a contemporary Roof Terrace that appears to float above the re-designed Atrium at the heart of the museum, and re-modelled daytime rooms which will all be catered by its new in-house caterer Peyton Events.

Moya Maxwell, chairman of Unique Venues of London said: “2014 is a special year for Unique Venues of London, as we celebrate our 21st anniversary and launch new branding to represent the consortium’s development."
