UK: Glasgow eyes £400m boost by enlisting corporate leaders

Glasgow business leaders are being called on by the Scottish conference and event industry to help boost business tourism by more than £400 million, by becoming advocates for business events.

A new initiative, Think Scotland, Think Conference (TSTC), has been established to help engage more than 250 hand-picked business influencers, in a series of events throughout summer.

In Glasgow, the selected business leaders will learn marketing tools and receive support to become potential advocates and drive more business into Scotland, at the Glasgow Science Centre on 3 June.

TSTC has been established with the aim of growing business tourism by 21 per cent (£400 million) to £2.3 billion by 2020.

Judy Rae, head of corporate events at Glasgow Science Centre and industry group BTfS chair, said business leaders were the perfect launching pad to drive business tourism into Scotland.

"With TSTC we are directly engaging with  business leaders, simply asking them to consider putting Glasgow and Scotland forward as the next host location for their organisation’s next annual conference, team building or incentive event," she said.
