UK: Edinburgh International Conference Centre to Return to Profit in "Months"

The chief executive of the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) has vowed to return the venue to profit within 18 months.

The promise comes after trading losses of more than £1 million were revealed last month for the year ending December 2013.

But CEO Marshall Dallas, who has marked 100 days in the role after replacing Hans Rissmann in October 2014, said that he intended to put the EICC back in the black before the end of next year.

He said: “We’re going to return to operating profit within 18 months.

“We lost ground to our international competition, primarily because of the economic downturn, which slowed the delivery of the new expansion. Now association and corporate revenues are recovering and I’m confident we’ll return to operating profit within 18 months.”

Dallas added that the EICC had adopted a two-pronged strategy to attract business.
