UK: drp Signals Commitment to End Poverty Pay

Event management and production agency drp is the latest organisation to signal its support for the Living Wage for Live Events campaign.

The M&IT and Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (ABPCO) campaign aims to raise awareness of the living wage among event planners and urges meeting and event venues to pay the rate: £9.15 per hour in London, and £7.85 for the rest of the UK. The living wage, as accredited by the Living Wage Foundation, is pegged at a higher rate than the ‘National Living Wage’ announced by chancellor George Osborne in July, and calculated by the Centre for Research in Social Policy.

And as well as committing to demonstrate support through recruitment practises, drp will ensure consideration of the living wage becomes part of the venue selection process.

Dale Parmenter, CEO of drp Group, said: “It is all about people, if you do not attract and retain the best people you are going to fail.
