Unusual venues found to be big draw for delegates

New independent research has found unusual venues are becoming a big pull for delegates around the country.
The Ispsos Mori poll of 400 business people across the UK showed a quarter favoured an unusual or exciting conference venue, beating city centre hotels and academic venues.
When asked about what aspects of a business conference or meeting were most important 35% said ease of access, 30% said level of service, 19% answered standard of accommodation and 15% chose out of the ordinary activities.
Nick Bond, Yorkshire Tourist Board’s Business Tourism Manager, said: “We commissioned this research to gain a better understanding of what motivates delegates when attending a meeting venue. We see a large number of conference organisers looking for an inspiring venue and this research should give some reassurance to such organisers that their business venue choice will be well received.
“We are also seeing a more alternative approach to staff incentives and team building activity choice. For example Xscape in West Yorkshire, the largest snowdome in the UK, offers a night camping on the snow slopes with colleagues with only a basic survival kit.”
Business tourism, corporate hospitality and staff reward account for £22bn each year, with business visits increasing by 53 per cent over the past decade.
