UK: Too Many Meetings "Being Used For One-Way Communication"

The event planners behind internal conferences are not being encouraged to focus on business objectives enough by their leaders, according to research by KDM Events.

The event content specialist concluded many internal events lack clear business objectives after surveying 49 companies during December 2014 to discover how organisers evaluate meetings.   

But the study also showed that planners would like to be able to demonstrate the business case for their events, with almost three-quarters stating it would be an advantage if they were able to easily quantify the success of the events they organise.

KDM's research found event success is still largely being attributed to logistical effectiveness and delegate experience on the day: the satisfactory outcome of ‘everyone enjoying themselves’ was the target for almost nine out of 10 respondents, while logistical (64 per cent), budgetary (69 per cent) and scheduling (43 per cent) targets were way ahead of business priorities.
