UK: Procurement More Important Than Ever as UK Hotel Prices See Double-Digit Growth

Jon WestCorporates should review their travel policies to get the best hotel rates following double-digit growth in all the UK’s top destinations, according to hotel solutions provider HRS.

New research reveals London has remained Europe’s most expensive capital to stay in for the last three quarters of 2014, with an increase in room rates of more than 17 per cent, compared to Q3 in 2013. Average room rates in London are now reaching nearly £134.

Edinburgh, meanwhile, has seen room rates increase by 18 per cent to £119, making it the UK’s second most expensive city.

Leeds has witnessed the biggest growth with a 27 per cent increase in room rates, and rooms averaging £84 per night.

Cardiff is the cheapest UK city, with an average room rate of £81, however it, too, has enjoyed an increase of 18 per cent over the last three quarters.
