UK: London Hotel Rates Up 13 Percent

emea hotels monitorHotel rates in London have grown by 13 per cent in the last year to hit an average of €189 (£138), according to the latest statistics from STR Global in the Whitebridge Hospitality EMEA Hotels Monitor.

The August 2015 report reveals that the capital achieved the ninth-strongest rate growth of the 23 cities assessed in the EMEA region. London did register a slight dip in occupancy, down to 79.7 per cent, from 80.3 per cent. Another strong performer was Edinburgh, where average daily rate (ADR) increased from €95 (£69) to €109 (£79) and occupancy was up by 2.3 points to 77 per cent.

Elsewhere, Cairo was the stand-out performer, with a 26 per cent rise in ADR (to £68) and 36 per cent increase in occupancy (to 54 per cent), which, while considerably less than other cities is "great news for the strife torn nation", said EMEA Hotels Monitor editor Philip Camble.
