UK: Edinburgh Ambassador Programme Generates £500m
Edinburgh’s Ambassador Programme has generated £510 million for the city in a decade.
The scheme, which uses a range of experts and academics to help bring conferences to the Scottish capital, was celebrated with the annual Ambassadors’ Dinner at the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa. Among the 115 guests were some of the city’s 500 ambassadors, including representatives of the University of Edinburgh, Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation, and Moredun Research Institute.
Convention Edinburgh, the business tourism arm of Marketing Edinburgh, says more than £510m of economic impact has been generated by the programme during the last 10 years.
Elaine Miller, ambassador & association bid manager at Convention Edinburgh, said: “The dinner is a key event in the year and it presents an excellent opportunity for ambassadors and members to share ideas and make new connections.
"The ambassadors present are working with Convention Edinburgh on events which have the potential to bring £25m worth of economic impact to Edinburgh. That’s something worth raising a glass to.”
