UK: Barbican Launches Mentoring Program to End National Events Month
Barbican has joined forces with the HBAA to launch a mentoring scheme aimed at nurturing talent in the meetings, conference and events industry.
The programme was unveiled as the Business Visits and Events Partnership (BVEP)'s National Events Month came to an end on 31 October.
The brainchild of a steering group of industry experts and rising stars, including Chris Parnham and Angie Mason of Absolute Corporate Events, Trinity Event Solutions' Jacqui Kavanagh, Juliet Price of the HBAA, Sue Burgess from BCD M&I and Paul Martins from Cavendish Conference Venues.
Jackie Boughton, head of sales at the Barbican, said the idea for the mentoring scheme had been developed by the venue following the HBAA forum, and was designed to give rising stars across the industry the support they need as their careers develop.
"The industry has a wealth of talent, both from those who have spent many years working in events and the younger generation just starting out in their career. The idea is to create an industry-wide platform where people can share their experience and provide advice and guidance to those who will shape the industry going forward," she said.
