Summer Eventia moves to Brighton

This year’s annual conference of meetings and events industry association Eventia, called The Summer Eventia, will take place at the Holiday Inn in Brighton from 5-7 July.

The city was chosen following a tendering process through which bids from a number of venues and destinations to host the event were assessed. The venue for the conference will be announced shortly.

The Summer Eventia is establishing itself as one of the key educational and networking events in the UK's conference calendar. In 2008, the event attracted 250 attendees to The Lowry Hotel in Manchester.

Eventia plans to build further on last year’s success, and will be working closely with the Visit Brighton conference team to ensure a memorable event.

"We are really pleased to have been selected as the host destination for this major industry event, and look forward to showcasing all that the city has to offer," said Julia Gallager, convention bureau manager for Visit Brighton.

Meanwhile, Eventia chief executive Izania Downie, commented: "We are delighted to be holding our 2009 conference in Brighton – this is the first time that we've taken the event to a seaside resort destination.

“Brighton has demonstrated a very successful track record in hosting association conferences and conventions, and we have every confidence that the venue and destination, working in close partnership with Eventia's conference planning team, will enable us to deliver an enjoyable, professional and must-attend event.”

Commenting on the importance of bring Eventia members together, Downie added: "The challenges, issues and opportunities facing the events industry at the present time provide an imperative for our members to come together to share experiences, to learn from one another, and to be motivated and inspired by the industry experts who will be speaking at our plenary and workshop sessions.

“But we also plan to have fun and enjoy each other's company, and we'll be doing our very best to offer the right balance between leading-edge education and information sessions and social networking in relaxed, informal settings.”
