Social Media Becoming a Larger Event Marketing Tool

smartphoneEvent planners are making the most of social media marketing, with more than 80 per cent planning to increase their activity this year, according to the latest report from amiando.

The event management software firm’s annual Social Media & Events report - which surveyed 1,500 planners worldwide – showed that organisers still rely heavily on social media when planning for events.

amiando's report found that the most important objectives of social media activity in the industry are to increase awareness of individual events as well as the brand. Nearly half (44 per cent) said they achieved this, while 76 per cent were hoping for results this year.

The most widely used channels in social media remain constant, with Facebook, Twitter, XING and LinkedIn proving popular choices.

More than half of all organisers publish between three and 10 posts a week on social media networks - and 85 per cent of planners say they will publish at least one post a week.
