Proximity London's work for BBC TV Licensing wins it top marketing agency award




The 17th MCCA Best Awards, held at the London Metropole on 19 April, saw a double coup for Proximity London which picked up both the prestigious award for Best Agency, as well as Best of the Best.

The integrated creative agency’s Best Agency gong followed on from it winning the Best of the Best award for its ‘It’s Not Funny’ campaign for BBC TV Licensing.  The campaign was also voted Best Integrated Communication Campaign for its “superb combination of creativity, media and outstanding results”.

Amanda Phillips, Proximity London’s chief executive, commented: “This is an outstanding testament to the quality and depth of expertise that Proximity London delivers to its clients. It is also a measure of the dedication and sheer hard work of the entire agency, and our commitment to delivering campaigns that change behaviour and build brands.”

Other notable agency performances included RMG Connect, which won Best Communication Campaign Featuring Experiential Marketing and Best Communication Featuring Interactive Marketing; Billington Carmell, which triumphed in the Best Communication Campaign Featuring Sales Promotion category and scored two Merits for Best Communication Campaign Featuring Advertising and Best Communication Featuring Sponsorship; and Iris, which won a number of creative awards for art direction, copywriting, photography and illustration.

Client of the Year went to Clare Jones-Leake, sponsorship director of Vodafone, while Woo took Best Newcomer Agency.

Commenting on a glittering night compared hilariously and extremely effectively by comedian Dave Gorman, Graham Kemp, MCCA chairman, said: “Understanding the business, the brand, the consumer, channels of communication, distribution and the competition are all learnings that help in the creation and execution of the best ideas. The 2007 Awards demonstrated this in abundance, but tellingly many of the awards went to agencies that demonstrated strong client relationships. Indeed, it’s increasingly clear that strong partnerships between agencies and clients are a necessity in the creation of outstanding marketing campaigns.”

This year’s Best Awards ceremony continues to be regarded as the premier awards programme for integrated marketing communication agencies. It reflects outstanding marketing creativity and expertise combined with superb campaign results.
