Premier Travel Inn adds weight to country-wide quality assurance scheme

The UK’s largest hotel chain, Premier Travel Inn, has become the first country-wide hotel group to sign up with the national tourist board’s new quality assessment scheme, which was specially created for ‘budget’ accommodation.
The scheme was set up following research by the national tourist board, which found that 87% of Britons said an official quality guarantee would be ‘quite’ or ‘very important’ as a means of reassurance when choosing holiday accommodation. As the UK’s largest hotel group with more than 475 hotels in England, Scotland and Wales, Premier Travel Inn’s partnership with the national tourist boards means that wherever they stay in Britain, visitors can be assured of a set quality standard.
The agreement also means that potential visitors can find and book Premier Travel Inn’s value-for-money accommodation on the websites: www.visitbritain.com, www.enjoyengland.com, www.visitwales.com and www.visitscotland.com.
“Today’s visitors are ever-more discerning with greater expectations from the places they stay,” says Gerard Tempest, marketing director of Premier Travel Inn. “We offer a unique Good Night Guarantee which means we guarantee a clean, comfortable room and friendly and efficient service – in fact everything you need for a good night’s sleep and if we don't live up to that promise, we'll give your money back. So to have the additional assurance of an industry recognised quality assessment scheme is fantastic news for our team members and visitors alike.”
In 2005, the official grading of the quality of Britain’s accommodation standards was given a major overhaul. For the first time, the historic agreement means that the three national tourist boards and the AA now use the same criteria to assess accommodation.
Around 45% of known accommodation in England is now a member of the national quality assessment scheme. Premier Travel Inn’s commitment to quality is another step forward in VisitBritain’s ambition to raise that figure to 80% by 2010. Hilton Hotels and Radisson Edwardian have also recently been welcomed into national quality assessment schemes. Accommodation providers and attractions are being urged to visit www.qualityintourism.com to benefit from participation in the schemes.
