National video conference network opens in UK

Event communication specialist, The Live Group plc, has launched a National Video Conference (VC) Network to encourage specialist integration between groups of people wishing to stay in their local regions or countries rather than travel en-masse to a central conference location.

The Live Group points out that the network works not only from a sustainable perspective, but also boosts productivity in government departments and commercial sectors such as retail, pharmaceutical, healthcare, professional services and banking, as employees spend less time out of the office.
The network of 150 VC sites across the UK is linked by high-speed Internet technology, offering live pictures and sound, full audience participation and keynote speeches with PowerPoint. The concept can be powered either from nine regional hubs or from a single hub linking up to 150 sites at one time.  Professional facilitators ensure that maximum benefits are delivered, including opportunities to vote and express opinions both written and verbally.
“Going it alone with VC may not yield the many benefits that a properly developed and facilitated option can deliver.  With this in mind and in response to the cost and efficiency pressures currently on organisations, we have developed The Live Group VC network to encourage delegate interaction, reduce travel and boost working time,” said Toby Lewis, Managing Director of The Live Group plc.
“This new service will enable organisations to maintain communication to small and medium-sized audiences with full online participation, voting and freetext engagement, far more than VC could offer alone.  Furthermore, delegates need only travel 30-40 minutes to reach a regional venue and a day-long agenda can be condensed into four hours – a far more productive approach when time and economic pressures are high.”
Commenting on his company’s new VC network, The Live Group’s chairman Jonathan Lewis said: “This is the future of sustainable conferences. Plus it maximises workforce efficiency. We have designed new-style content, which only takes half a day of people’s time delivering better outcomes than if everyone had travelled to London for the day.”
According to The Live Groupe, the benefits of a VC-powered conference or seminar compared to traditional single location event includes:
·      No daily delegate rates at city centre hotels
·      No overnight accommodation charges
·      Very low travel costs
·      Low carbon footprint
·      Whole day agenda condensed to half a day
·      Greater workforce efficiency with minimal time spent away from office
·      Avoidance of cross infection from mass gatherings from diseases like swine flu
The VC network is made up of 150 VC suites across England, Scotland and Wales, accommodating 10-20 people, plus nine larger VC venues for up to 500 people. This network powers full delegate interaction using a range of event communication tools by The Live Group.
