Melville gets major boost for 2007

Melville Exhibition and Event Services Limited has announced three major deals for 2007. These include the company's appointment as venue services contractor for the new Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), plus renewal of two of its key contracts with organisers EMAP and CMPi.

The combined value of the three deals will be significantly in excess of £12m a year and according to Melville chief executive Nick Marshall. “I am delighted with these three appointments. The ADNEC announcement demonstrates that Melville’s technical expertise is recognised worldwide. While CMPi and EMAP, our two biggest customers, have acknowledged our commitment to meeting their needs as customers and our dedication to top quality service levels by renewing these major service contracts,” he added.

Melville’s appointment as the ADNEC venue services contractor means it will be providing mains, water and waste and rigging services for the new 60,000 gross sqm exhibition centre in Abu Dhabi. “We are building a world class exhibition centre here and we need a world class exhibition services contractor to work with us,” said ADNEC chief executive Simon Horgan. On the back of this contract, Melville intends to develop a full services offering to shows being staged both at ADNEC and other venues in the region.

Both the EMAP and CMPi contracts were renewed for three years through to 2010 and both contracts include provision for new shows and should grow in value, according to Marshall.

The EMAP contract includes major events such as the Spring Fair and Glee and covers the provision of all key services including logistics and freight forwarding and according to Marshall is the largest contract ever awarded to Melville covering shows totalling over 600,000 gross square metres. “We are delighted to appoint Melville for a further three years. Service levels are a key issue for EMAP and Melville consistently provides us with strong service and support,” said EMAP Exhibitions group operations director, Kerr Sprott.

The CMPi award includes major shows such as IFSEC and The Furniture Show and also covers all services. “Melville works very closely with CMPi to ensure the success of our events for us, our exhibitors and our visitors and that is why we are pleased that we will be working closely with Melville for the next three years” said CMPi group operations director, Mirabelle Chatterjee.
