London venue voted on to new version of Monopoly

Earls Court has been included on the new Here and Now version of the world famous Monopoly board game after the public voted for their favourite London places for each new square.

The game has been given a makeover to take into account rising property prices in the capital. Parker, the game’s makers and property website Rightmove.co.uk devised two options for each square after evaluating property prices. They then asked the public to choose their preferred properties.

Chris Weatherhead, spokesperson for Parker, said: “The new places were loosely based on popular tourist attractions and sparked a national debate as to which places should have been selected for the board.”

Commenting on Earls Court’s inclusion, Anthony Lyons, chief executive of EC&O Venues, said: “We are delighted. Earls Court is about the same age as the Monopoly board and this updated version reflects the venue’s relevance to the 21st century as a favourite London landmark, and, in context, its value as a property.”

The values of the squares in the updated game have increased considerably over the original, but the makers have kept the ratios between values constant in order to maintain Monopoly’s character and balance. At £1.2 million, EC&O Venues considers Earls Court to be “something of a steal”. Why not email your valuation to [email protected]
