Have you made our wonderful event persons list?

EVENTS:review isn’t even a year old yet and it has been a hectic few months for the team, so we’d like to thank the following people who’ve inspired us and supported us along the way… (in alphabetical order!)

Andrew Morris, former Chief Exec of the NEC Group….
for being smoother than a cashmere codpiece and being a thoroughly genuine and forthright advocate of the live medium….

Chris Hughes, managing director, Brand Events…
…for overseeing the launches of some of the best new exhibitions such as MPH, Taste of London and Chemistry, blurring the trade and consumer boundaries and delivering innovative experiences for visitors – not to mention striking a deal with Channel 4!

Hugh Robertson, managing partner, RPM…

…for pushing the boundaries of live and experiential marketing and making pithy, relevant and intelligent comment when most are happy toeing the industry line.

Izania Downie, executive director, Eventia…

…for driving the new events industry body forward while championing the green issue and putting on the best awards ceremony of the year.

Jeremy Garbett, joint managing director, Jack Morton Worldwide…

…for making his company one of the first live marketing agencies to support EVENTS:review, putting forward clients to interview and producing three key pieces of research canvassing both consumers’, marketers’ and employees’ opinions of the medium – not to mention some wonderful global case studies and honest forthright opinions delivered skilfully to camera!

Jill Hawkins, director, Fridays Group…

…for turning from an initial sceptic to avid supporter of EVENTS:review, and providing invaluable promotional assistance through her PR company that knows live marketing backwards.

John Young, MICE Group…

…for leading the debate on what live marketing is and whether it can capitalise on the opportunity it is currently being offered.

Karen Taylor, managing director, Caroo Media…

…for seeing the real potential of EVENTS:review and putting her company’s money where our mouth is.

Lisa Hancock, managing director, Newmarket Racecourses…

…for being one of the youngest MDs in the business (she took the role at 25), and overseeing the Rowley Mile racecourse’s £15 million development programme and £9 million development of its July Course, which has taken racecourses into a new corporate hospitality era of event management and client care – and achieving all this way ahead of Ascot.

Matty Mee, partner, MediaCom…

…for openly acknowledging the power of experiential marketing and being instrumential in making it a key part of the leading media agencies strategy going forward.

Kevin Murphy, deputy chief executive, ExCeL…

…for his role in taking ExCeL into profit beyond shareholder expectations and turning ExCeL into one of UK’s leading conference and exhibition venues – and playing a key role in relocating the Motor Show to London, helping secure ExCeL’s Phase 2 development project and negotiating an Olympic Games tie in.

Mike Fletcher, editor, Event and RSVP magazines…

…for being the ultimate events industry diplomat in putting the industry before media politics and being the linchpin in EVENTS:review covering its first awards ceremony.

Paul Samuels, head of interactive partnerships, O2…

…for delivering the most engaging and entertaining speech on why exhibitions need to improve – and fast – and how events can be used to generate customer loyalty to great effect.

Peter Cowie, managing director, PCI Fitch…

…for seeing the true potential in experiential marketing and moving from above the line to below the line to champion the medium – not to mention leading one of the most creative and integrated live marketing campaigns with the Army on Everest project.

Sarah Farrugia, managing director, Farrugia Leo…

…for producing The Big Survey and giving the events industry an intellectual platform on which to build.

Simon Burton, managing director, Exposure Event Creation…

…for trying to drive change in the exhibitions industry through the findings of The Big Survey, which he commissioned, and never shying away from the difficult issues affecting a sector that’s currently in decline.

Simon Kimble, CEO, Clarion Events…

…for the incredible transformation of the company from a £20 million market capitalisation to, some say, a £140 million valuation in just 5 years through the use of innovative ideas, intelligent acquisitions, raw courage, and an understanding of the need for blended media.

Steve Marrtin, managing director, Vertex…

…for pushing the boundaries of event technology and taking face-to-face communication firmly online through his creative use of virtual events.

Toby Hester, head of sponsorship, T-Mobile…

…for delivering the most informative interview on the power of event sponsorship, experiential marketing and the importance of measuring the results – so good we split it over two videos!
