Centaur launches European Travel Buyer Awards

The first and only pan-European awards programme devoted to recognising and toasting the achievements of Europe’s most accomplished travel buyers is being launched by Centaur Media.

The European Travel Buyer Awards (www.etbawards.com) will take place on 12 February during the recently announced Business Travel Week (9-13 February 2009), when thousands of business travel professionals from all over Europe will descend on central London for five days of industry-leading exhibitions, conferences, awards, events and networking opportunities.

The evening ceremony will be held at the Royal Courts of Justice in central London when 11 awards will be presented. Covering three different categories, the honours will recognise individuals who can demonstrate excellence across a multitude of disciplines, expertise in use of technology and who lead the field in their travel area. The 11 individual awards are as follows:

1. Outstanding Contribution to Industry
2. European Travel Buyer of the Year
3. European Travel Team of the Year (up to €5m)
4. European Travel Team of the Year (over €5m)
5. European Travel booker of the Year
6. Best use of a technology in a travel programme
7. Best Card programme
8. Best End-to-End Solution
9. Best Meetings Programme
10. Best CSR Programme
11. Best Innovation in a Travel Programme

“The inaugural European Travel Buyer Awards focus on the travel buyer for the very first time and, in doing so, aim to recognise the elite working within this industry who are at the very pinnacle of their profession,” said event director David Chapple.

“Buying, managing or booking travel in some of the largest and most diverse businesses in Europe is incredibly challenging. Managers need to have excellent business acumen as well as sound management and people skills, as they are required to weigh up and finely balance both the financial needs of the business with the personal and functional needs of its travellers.”

Categories are open for entry from either an individual who is responsible for travel within their company, within their country and/or across Europe, or by a third party nomination, such as a colleague or person working for a supplier, consultancy, association or media company. The European Travel Buyer Awards winners will be shortlisted and independently judged by a panel of business travel experts.
