Bumper month for Yorkshire South




Destination marketing partnership Yorkshire South Tourism is putting itself of the map this month with a series of high-profile events across the region.

Microsoft has chosen the area for its UK Microsoft Challenge, which will see the company using the destination as a key hub of adventure sports. On a similarly competitive note, Sheffield has been chosen to host the UK Corporate Games at the end of the month. Over the course of three days, the city will host 6,000 competitors, staying across the Yorkshire South region and playing a wide variety of competitive sports.

Futhermore, Sheffield’s Hallam FM Arena will stage the International Indian Film Association Awards. Stars, guests and VIPs from the world of Bollywood will be heading for the region when the ‘Bollywood Oscars’ take place for a glittering awards ceremony.

Other key developments in June include the opening of the 90-bedroom Leopold Hotel. The hotel will see the conversion of the historic Firth College, one of the most will be a host of bars, restaurants, as well as leisure opportunities.

Yorkshire South’s convention bureau has also successfully secured four major conferences, including three key medical events in conjunction with ambassadors from the city’s first class teaching hospitals.
