AEO continues with ABC after ad:tech saga

Despite its credibility being called into question regarding the recent controversy surrounding the restating of ad:tech’s audit figures, the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) has renewed its strategic partnership with the events trade body the Association of Event Organisers (AEO).

After being called to explain how such a misuse of official figures could occur, the audit firm will continue to work with AEO as an accredited auditing body, providing members with independent, industry-recognised verification of exhibition data.

Hilary Lawson, AEO director, said: “We are delighted that ABC has renewed its partnership. Raising standards and encouraging fair and transparent reporting of attendance figures is an important part of AEO’s role, and we look forward to working closely with ABC over the next year.”

Jan Pitt, director of business to business ABC, said: “Maintaining our partnership with the AEO demonstrates our continued commitment to meeting the needs of event organisers, exhibitors and sponsors, providing a transparent currency for the exhibition sector.”
