Following Attacks, Tunisian Suppliers Allow Free Event Cancelations

Tunisian hotels and suppliers are offering free cancellations in a bid to prevent a sudden shortage of business and incentive travel since last week's terrorist attack in Sousse.

No cancellations have been reported and local destination management companies (DMCs) say they are in regular touch with event planners to answer queries about security concerns.

More than 35 people were killed, including at least 15 Britons, when a gunman opened fire on a beach in Sousse on Friday.

Tunisian DMC Iris Tours spokseman Jamel Bel Haj Yahia said all meetings and incentive travel operators were working together to keep bookings in place.

"Partners prefer to postpone their decisions and keep waiting (on decisions from) their clients ," he said.

"Even hotels and several providers are in solidarity with customers and incentive houses (are) offering free cancellation fees and (allowing planners to) postpone decisions (at the) last minute."
