Green registration tool proves itself at Bar 09




An innovative environmentally friendly visitor and delegate registration system, which has been used increasingly in a support capacity, was used for all registration for the first time recently.

The system, Go Green, is not only kind to the environment, but also speeds up the registration process saving time and money.

UBM Live’s Bar 09, which took place recently at Earls Court 2 in London, was the event that took the plunge to use Go Green for all registration.

“The main reason for us taking the leap and going entirely Go Green is that we were confident that the bar industry are a very technology savvy community, and they loved the speed and effectiveness of the system. It’s also great that we’re doing our bit for the environment!” explained UBM’s group marketing manger Kate Disley.

The system allows organisers to virtually manage their own registration by automatically sending an individual barcode via email or text on receipt of a visitor application. The recipient of the bar code uses a self-service terminal at the show entrance to scan the code and print their own badge.

“The system reflected the forward-thinking, trend-setting nature of the show. I am extremely pleased with the results,” said Disley. “More than 9,000 badges were printed at the self-service terminal over the two days of the show, but there was never a queue, and conversion from pre-reg was higher year on year, resulting in very happy visitors, exhibitors and organisers!”

From a visitor perspective, the system provides more autonomy and convenience. Organisers, meanwhile, also enjoy significant benefits, with a drastic drop in fulfillment costs, plus the ability to create a high-quality, superior and hassle-free welcome experience to visitors as they enter the show.
 
“All our clients, including many of the UK’s leading exhibition organising companies, already offer the Go Green service as an option to their visitors alongside the traditional registration system of receiving badges in advance via the post,” said David Cunningham managing director of Expo-Systems, which pioneered the system.

“We pride ourselves on thinking outside the box and delivering a service designed to meet the needs of our clients which are usually unique in some shape or form. Now that Bar 09 has proved that it is possible to utilise the Go Green service completely for all resgistrations, we anticipate that more organisers will follow suit.”
