The Palace Hotel, one of four hotels at the Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne, has opened for small meetings and special events. When the entire resort is completed, the meetings facility – central Switzerland’s largest – will offer 23,680 square feet of space in 31 venues accommodating 800 attendees.

“In developing our strategic vision for the Bürgenstock Resort, the MICE segment was one of our five pillars” said Bruno Schöpfer, the resort’s managing director.

One hour by train from the center of Zurich, one and a half hours from Zurich airport and three hours from Geneva, the resort is twenty minutes from Lucerne, Switzerland's most popular destination for Americans.

The 108-room hotel has a French restaurant, lounge and bar, wine cellar and an expansive terrace overlooking the lake. The hotel’s 10,882 square feet of meeting space includes the 1,862-square-foot Salle Palace and the 1,690-square-foot Salle Palace Foyer that can be used for presentations and events. With floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of Lake Lucerne, the Salle Palace and its Foyer can also be used for gala events and wedding receptions. Also available are nine breakout rooms, two function rooms, a foyer, a boardroom and a lounge.

Opening in September, the 102-room Bürgenstock Hotel, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, will have a restaurant, lobby lounge and bar, wine cellar, and a cigar lounge. For events, it will have 5,382 square feet of meeting space divided among its Lakeview Ballroom and its foyer, an Executive Lounge, private cinema and private dining room.

Situated behind the Bürgenstock Hotel overlooking farms and pastures, the 16,145 square-foot Piazza provides a spacious outdoor area for events.

By the end of the year, the Waldhotel Healthy Living will open with 160 rooms and a restaurant serving healthy cuisine. This property will offer spa services and facilities for medical check-ups, physical therapy, weight management, post-operative convalescence and wellness programs. Meeting facilities will include a 1,700 square-foot conference room, two private dining rooms and a boardroom.

In addition, the resort's 12-room Taverne 1879 has opened after a comprehensive renovation. Its 65-seat restaurant serves Swiss specialties

By 2018, two indoor tennis courts (9,150 square feet) and one outdoor court (10,440 square feet) will provide additional event venues.

When participants are not attending conferences, they can sample one of the resort's 12 restaurants, bars and lounges that serve classic French cuisine à la Escoffier and César Ritz, Asian, Middle Eastern, Swiss and regional Alpine cuisines. The Bürgenstock Alpine Spa, one of Europe's largest spas, will offer a full menu of massages and treatments for busy executives. Attendees can also opt for golf, tennis, swimming and hiking on the resort's 43 miles of trails.

Incentive organizers and meeting planners will find historic buildings scattered throughout the resort's 148 acres that are a good fit for special events, such as the Spycher Club, an ornately-carved 18th century building, and the 1928 Golf Restaurant with its terrace overlooking the course.

“We welcomed our first conference last week,” said Schöpfer.

MICE rate begins at CHF410 (or about US$414) and includes full breakfast, VAT, service charges, spa entry, use of funicular and boat and free Wi-Fi.
