Southwest Florida’s Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club has just been recognized by the Florida Green Lodging Program, a subsidiary of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), for its environmental initiatives and sustainable practices.
The 319-room resort (the only one in South Florida to be situated directly on the beach with an on-site championship golf course, spa, and tennis center) earned a "Three Palm" rating for several of its ecologically friendly initiatives, which include maintaining an on-site recycling program, installing energy-efficient lighting, using “Green Sealed” cleaning products, purchasing organically-based fertilizers and pesticides for its golf course, having a saline purification process in the pool complex, managing air-conditioning in public area via computerized systems, fixing restrooms with low-flow and auto-flush appliances, and upholding towel and linen re-use programs in guest rooms.
The designation is only valid for three years, after which the hotel will be required to submit a renewal application to evaluate its current environmental performance data based on the following criteria: waste reduction, reuse, and recycling; water conservation; energy efficiency, indoor air quality; and communication and education operations.
