South East Europe: The Beat Of The Main Tourist Season

Tourism Press Agency news (TTA news) gathered data on visits and occupancy of certain destinations in Slovenia in July and for the first seven months.  

LJUBLJANA
According to Ljubljana Tourism, in tourist information centres counted 48.219 visitors in July which is an increase of more than 27% over the same period last year (2013: 37.863). Of these were 5.085 domestic visitors, which means an increase of 3% (2013: 5.238) and 43.134 foreign visitors (2013: 32.625) which is 32% more than last year during the same period. There were 150.149 visitors in total of seven months which is 3.7% more than in the same period last year (2013: 144.756).
According to estimates, in the month of July was realized approximately the same overnight stays as last year (130.585, index 100,2), and in seven months 522.007, index 103. 

PORTOROŽ AND PIRAN
Hotels in the municipality of Piran in July recorded 167.521 overnight stays which is only 3% less than in July last year. Given the bad weather, the Tourist Association Portorož is very satisfied with the results. 27% of overnight stays created domestic guests. Among foreign guests were Italians, Austrians, Germans and Russians. They also observe more visits of Czech, Poles, Hungarians, Belgians, Spaniards, Frenchmen and Britons. There were 8% more domestic overnight visitors and 7% more foreign overnight visitors compared with last year. In the first seven months of this year was recorded 607.858 overnight stays or 3% less compared to the same period last year.
Tourist workers on the coast hope for better results in August and September. In the first six days of August was 7% more overnight stays. 

KRANJSKA GORA
Based on so far collected data of Local Tourist Organization Kranjska Gora, acquired by major providers in the destination, estimate that in July was realized for 10% less arrivals and overnight stays than in July last year. Larger loss was observed in overnight stays by visitors from Great Britain and Italy therefore on two very important markets for destination. This year destination also observes less domestic guests. The largest drop record smaller providers and providers of extra service as there were also less daily visitors. 

BOHINJ
Bohinj Tourism estimates that in Bohinj was realized 15% less overnight stays compared to last year, which means that in July were about 72.000 overnight stays. The largest drop recorded 2 Bohinj camps which had for 35 – 40% less overnight stays compared to 2013. There were also less daily visitors and general spending by domestic tourists.
