Access leads the way in Austrian meetings sector

Access 2010, which opened today at the Hofburg in Vienna, continues to be the driving force in the Austrian events and congress sector, thanks to its continuing investment in its seminar programme through the Access Academy

“In its seventh year, access presents itself as a platform of business, networking and knowledge for the Austrian convention industry. The exclusive ambience of Hofburg Palace is only a foretaste of the opportunities offered by the region,” said Dr. Petra Stolba, chief executive of the Austrian National Tourist Office. “But apart from this and the many other highlights the Austrian convention business holds in store for its visitors, we also have an exciting trade program this year under the title of ´The marketplace of attention´, which is part of our Access Academy.”

Sponsored by the austrian business and convention network/Österreich Werbung (abcn), Austrian Airlines (AUA), the Austrian Convention Bureau (ACB), the Vienna Convention Bureau (VCB) and the Round Table Konferenzhotels (RTK), Access has grown into a nationally and internationally acclaimed trade fair in recent years. And byond its focus on current developments in event destination Austria, this year the progranmme will focus on sustainability and how to handle the range of new communication channels avauilabkle to the industry.

“With the huge amount of new communication channels available to organisers, and the growing flood of information in the marketplace, it is increasingly difficult to gain people´s attention,” said Stolba. “In order to continue to rank as a top destination, understanding these channels is crucial for the success of the Austrian congress and convention industry, ensuring we do not get lost in the wealth of information and we still capture the attention of our target groups. This year´s seminar programme looks at how how you can promote congresses, seminars and events effectively, and what opportunities does Web 2.0 hold?”

The list of lecturers included, Roman Szeliga (Medical doctor and cofounder of the CliniClowns), Karin Schmollgruber (passion pr), Ingrid Amon (Institut für Sprechtechnik) and Oliver Hohne (Marketing Director of the IMEX Group).
