Kick start your Hogmanay celebrations at Edinburgh’s newest venue

Where better to start 2010 and celebrate the biggest night of the Year other than Edinburgh’s newest venue, the John Hope Gateway Restaurant in the Royal Botanic Garden. Watch the magnificent fireworks display above Edinburgh Castle, across the lawns of the Botanics, after indulging in a memorable meal created by Prestige Scotland.


Today caterer Prestige Scotland unveils a selection of the delicious dishes being served for the inaugural Dinner on Hogmanay, and Brunch on New Year’s Day to welcome in the New Year at the John Hope Gateway. The Hogmanay Dinner menu includes a tantalizing selection of dishes that include traditional Cock-a-Leekie soup, a Gateau of Haggis, Neeps and Tatties served with a Whisky Chive Butter sauce, Braised Highland Beef served with sautéed Potato, Parma Ham crisp, Shallot Creamed Spinach and a red wine gravy followed by a warm chocolate pudding with Truffle cream and Burnt Orange Tuille, coffee and tablet.

The evening will start with a glass of Prosecco on arrival, include a glass of wine with the four course dinner. A Piper and Toast at Midnight with dancing to the in-house DJ will make this a night to remember.


The following day, there is no better way to start New Year, than with the delicious Buffet Brunch in the Gateway Restaurant, whilst enjoying the fabulous panoramic views across Edinburgh and the Botanic Garden. Start the day with a Bucks Fizz or Bloody Mary on arrival, and a delicious freshly prepared buffet brunch which includes choices from; a selection of pastries, a fresh fruit platter, fresh creamy porridge followed by Bacon, Lorne Sausage, Haggis, Mushrooms, Scrambled egg and tomato, Smoked Haddock Kedgeree or Chicken and Ham Casserole. This will be complimented with crusty bread and butter and a choice of fresh fruit juices and Tea and coffee.


The new John Hope Gateway visitor facility opened in October 2009. This pioneering and beautiful building provides a host of new opportunities and attractions for people of all ages and abilities. With the materials used, the various energy saving measures and renewable energy production, The John Hope Gateway is an excellent demonstration site for promoting sustainability in design and includes many demonstrable features such as a biomass boiler, rain water harvesting, a wind turbine, solar collectors and photovoltaic solar panels.
