The Portuguese capital is expecting an increase in the number of foreign tourists during the week of 7th to 13th May, when the Eurovision Song Contest will be held. The increase may reach 37%, according to a report by eDreams travel agency.

"During the week of 7th to 13th May, the city of Lisboa will receive an additional 37% of international visitors than in the same period of the previous year, coinciding with the holding of the Eurovision Song Contest 2018, which will take place on 8th, 10th and 12th of this month in the Portuguese capital, " eDreams said, adding that "these figures far outgrow those registered in the Eurovision 2017 in Kiev, which was only 20% on average."

Regarding the tourists origin, the report states that "flights scheduled for this period have France as the main source and represent 29.2% of the volume of passengers booked for that week", especially from cities such as Paris, Lyon and Marseille.

After France, follows Germany (18%) and Spain (10%). Countries such as Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy and the United Kingdom also show a greater demand for the country during this great event, which will take place in Portugal for the first time.
