Portugal: BTL 2016 Increases in Visitants

BTL, the Portuguese tourism exhibition, hosted this year 75,428 visitants, an increase of 4 percent comparing to 2015. More than 36,000 were professionals, in also an increase of 3 percent, and 39,000 final consumers (6 percent more than last year).

Fátima Vila Maior, BTL organiser, praises the success of BTL 2016: “This edition was very interesting both for professionals and general public. The feedback that we are having is very positive. Meetings were made and business accomplished”. The director says that this year's exhibition had a number of small events that helped its overall performance, such as conferences, workshops, seminars and a fair for job seeking in this sector, with more than 800 job offers. There was also a show of startups in the tourism area.

The hosted buyers programme received 400 professionals, from different countries, such as Colombia, Germany, United States, Poland and Russia. There was also a specific buyers programme targeted to Brazil, in partnership with Embratur (Brazilian Institute of Tourism) and TAP.

Organised by AIP, BTL 2016 had 36 international destinations exhibiting in the show floor, from India to Spain, from Japan to Cuba. Brazil was the invited country and the Algarve the highlighted regional destination.
