Wilmington Convention Center Sets Post-Florence Reopening Date

The Wilmington Convention Center in Wilmington, NC, is planning to be back up and running by October 1 after Hurricane Florence hit the destination earlier this month, according to the latest post-storm update from the Wilmington and Beaches Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The Bureau said it is already seeing positive signs of recovery in the area and continues to receive positive reports of power being restored. Cleanup efforts are underway, and businesses are preparing to reopen throughout Wilmington and its island beaches. The Wilmington International Airport (ILM) is open, and the Bureau anticipates conditions will start to improve even more quickly once water levels recede.

The Bureau is in the process of reaching out to hotels, facilities and venues regarding their status as key management personnel are beginning to return to their offices. Once the Bureau is able to reach its partners to assess the situation, it will provide additional updates.

The Wilmington and Beaches Convention & Visitors Bureau is the official tourism development authority for Wilmington and its island beaches.
