Reno-Tahoe Meetings Cooperative Donates $3,000 to Charities
Reno-Tahoe Meetings raised $3,000 to donate to select charities as part of a collaborative meetings and conventions promotion, Come See, Fly Free. Checks were issued for $1000 toward each charity presented by Reno-Tahoe Meetings to the Reno SPCA, American Red Cross - Reno Chapter and the Reno chapter of The Susan G. Koman Foundation. A formal check presentation was conducted yesterday at the Red Cross - Reno Chapter.

This promotion, launched in January of 2012, targeted meetings and conventions planners with an offer to “Come See, Fly Free” - a program that covered airfare and travel costs for qualified meeting planners interested in conducting site inspections in the Reno-Tahoe destination. Those who sent a request for proposal that met the group’s minimum room requirement of 200 room nights automatically qualified for the charity of their choice to receive a donation. Those who actually visited qualified for an even larger donation, and the largest contributions were raised by planners who actually booked their meeting in Reno/Tahoe. More than 450 inquiries were generated from the program.
Debra Dudley, the Reno-Tahoe Meetings Cooperative executive director, explained that the concept for this program was created because the Cooperative wanted to give meeting planners "an unselfish incentive" to see the Reno/Tahoe destination, and to emphasize that the destination as a whole "believes in corporate giving.”
