Opened in November 2013, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts’ sixth property in Dubai seeks to capitalise on the emirate’s fast-growing business base from an up and coming district. General Manager Hayden Edgtton explains the property’s appeal. 

When deciding where to build a new hotel in Dubai, hospitality groups are spoilt for choice as pockets of the city continue to develop and evolve, each presenting a unique set of benefits. 
For Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, which already boasts properties in Deira, Bur Dubai, Jumeirah Beach, Ibn Battuta Gate and Al Mamzar, claiming a spot in Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) made perfect sense. The lakefront community is just minutes away from the city’s most important business districts, commercial free zones and airports, including the new Al Maktoum International Airport at Dubai World Central. More than 50,000 people work and live in the area and 6,500 companies use it as a business base. 
“Many major global corporations are relocating to JLT, which is creating a diverse, exciting neighborhood,” said General Manager Hayden Edgtton. “We believe there is exceptional potential here and we expect to thrive as a major hospitality and social hub at the heart of this energetic environment.” 
The 168-room Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers is the first international five-star hotel in JLT and features eight meeting rooms with views of the lakes and skyscrapers along Sheikh Zayed Road. There are also two private function rooms with glass walls and terrace access. Edgtton told meetme more about the hotel’s appeal: 
What types of meetings, events and conferences can you help me organise at Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers? 
Our maximum capacity is up to 70 guests so we cater well to smaller seminars, conferences and meetings. Our two private function rooms are a great choice for corporate brainstorming sessions or those seeking creative inspiration. Private dinners are also a strength.
 I am looking for an event with a ‘wow’ factor. What can you offer that other venues in Dubai cannot? 
Our setting is striking and we have worked hard to ensure that the personality of the hotel is relaxed, inviting and unpretentious, as well as providing a lively atmosphere that reflects our inspirational surroundings. Each of our eight stylish meeting rooms is flooded with natural light thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows offering incredible views of the lakes. Dining venue ‘nosh’ allows planners to combine business with a culinary experience by enjoying the entertainment of the open kitchens or capitalising on the appeal of the al fresco terrace. The urban bar & kitchen (ubk) is another venue option with a warm ambience and kitchen serving grills, roasts and classic comfort food. 
My clients demand a bespoke experience. What steps will you take to ensure I receive a personalised service in order to meet their high expectations? 
An important part of our strategy is offering a personalised service by tailor-making each and every event to suit the individual client. 
Firstly, we would meet with the client in order to understand their expectations and how we can exceed them. We would then show them each meeting room and event space to help get a better sense of how they see their event taking shape. 
We believe that at the heart of every good meeting or event is good food, which is why we place a heavy focus on providing imaginative menus. Whether it’s healthy ‘brain food’ to inspire blue-sky thinking or creative flourishes such as Mövenpick ice cream stations and individual mini fondues, we have a variety of delicious solutions.
 We always introduce the Head Chef to each client who would then create a bespoke menu to suit their needs. If there is anything extra that the clients wants then we add that in – nothing is too big or too small for us to deliver. 
What meetings- and events-related technology can you offer to enhance my client’s experience? 
Everyday tools such as audio-visual technology and full wall whiteboards make it easy to get down to business and Mövenpick’s meeting and event specialists are on hand to ensure everything runs smoothly from start to finish. We also have television screens in ubk and, if this space is taken for a corporate event, these can be used for branding which is key to selling a business. 
Some clients will bring their families to an event. What facilities and activities can you offer them? 
Guests looking to relax should check out the seven spa treatment rooms, state-of-the-art gym and outdoor infinity pool. We also facilitate guests’ access to Riva Beach Club on Palm Jumeirah. The city’s most popular golf courses and shopping malls are all within easy reach.
