Middle East: SITE Selects Dubai for Executive Summit

Dubai has been announced as the host destination for the 2015 Society of Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) Executive Summit

The event, which will take place from February 9 to 13 at JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, will attract experts from the global incentive travel and motivational event industry. The SITE Executive Summit returns to Dubai after a decade-long hiatus, with the first ever installment staged in the city in 2004.

“We are excited to be returning to Dubai in 2015 for our 12th annual SITE Executive Summit,” said SITE President Elect Rhonda Brewer. “Dubai was where the concept of an executive summit began and we feel this is the perfect time to come back, particularly with the continued expansion of Dubai, its focus on ultimate luxury and experience and the growing interest in the incentive travel market there.”

The SITE Executive Summit is an annual initiative that takes the SITE board to parts of the world that could leverage the experience and knowledge of this global group of industry experts. The 2014 edition was staged at Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and welcomed 200 professionals from hotels, DMCs, airlines, governments and students from the Caribbean.

The 2015 summit will be hosted by Dubai Business Events (DBE) and will feature an educational forum for Dubai-based and regional travel professionals to learn from and network with their international counterparts, as well as a meeting of the SITE board of directors.

DBE Director Steen Jakobsen said the event would put Dubai in the spotlight as one of the world’s most dynamic destinations for incentive travel by allowing influential planners to experience the city first-hand through various planned activities.

“Dubai has excellent tourism infrastructure and an exciting calendar of year-round events that make it a must-experience city that is perfect for incentive travel,” he said.

“We are very happy to be hosting the SITE 2015 summit, not only because it will give our local and regional industry players an insight into the latest international trends but also because hosting the event complements our strategy of promoting Dubai by inviting key decision-makers to visit us and see what makes our offer so special.”

Jakobsen was speaking at last month’s IMEX America 2014, which took place from October 14 to 16 at the Venetian Hotel, Las Vegas. The DBE was out in force at the event as part of Dubai’s ongoing efforts to boost its business event industry by building strategic partnerships with global trade bodies. Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) also sent a high-level delegation to IMEX as the UAE capital looks to boost its appeal as an international meeting hub.
