Middle East: Hotel trio to morph into major Marriott brand
Qatar will soon acquire its first Marriott Marquis-branded hotel with the merger of three Marriott group properties attached to one of the largest shopping malls in the country’s capital, Doha.
The three properties are the Renaissance Doha, the Courtyard Doha and the Marriott Executive Apartments Doha. All three are owned by Al Rayyan Tourism and Investment (ARTIC), a subsidiary of Qatar’s Al Faisal Holdings.
The new hotel will contain 580 guest rooms and offer 1,200 square metres of conference space including 17 meetings rooms, a range of restaurants and the Saray Spa. Located in Doha’s West Bay, the property will be called the Marriott Marquis City Centre Doha Hotel and is directly connected to the City Centre Mall which boasts over 340 shops. It will be the second Marriott Marquis property in the Middle East, following the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, which opened in 2012.
ARTIC Chairman Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani said: “By introducing Marriott’s modern and elegant Marquis brand in Doha, we will further enhance the high-end market offering and add value to our hotel portfolio.”
